How do I accept credit cards online?

Online payment

Accepting online payments through MasterCard, Visa, and American Express etc is a four step process.  However, before this can happen certain things are required.

  1. The first thing you require is an Internet merchant account. This can be set up through any major bank.
The second is your shopping cart software to display your products.

  3. Third is a payment gateway. This is the software link between your shopping cart and merchant account

Accepting payments through PayPal

This process can be a lot simpler and all online transactions are processed and deposited into your PayPal account.
The standard option allows you to accept payments online with PayPal . You can accept Paypal, credit card and bank transfer payments directly from your website, and includes optional shopping cart integration.

Website Payments Standard

There are no set-up fees or monthly charges. There is no application process and no cancellation fees.
You start paying transaction fees when your online shop starts receiving payments.

Akeeba Backup

It is essential that you make a back-up of your Joomla or Wordpress site. Things can go wrong at any time and for many reasons. Having a back-up can mean the difference between your website being down for hours rather than days. Do you fancy re-building all these blog posts? or re-entering all those products?

No I didn't think so. But I am glad to say that the answer is simple and FREE!.

Akeeba Backup is an essential install for every Joomla web site I have built. Also available for Wordpress and very simple to use.
This module has been around for about 8 years and been downloaded over 8 million times. Tried and tested I would say.

The video below will step through the installation and a basic back-up in Joomla.

You can break it down into a 3 simple steps.

  1. Install Akeeba Backup
  2. Backup with Akeeba
  3. Download the Backup

Now with your back-up file downloaded to your computer, it's now possible to migrate your site to a different server or keep it safe just incase that nightmare situation happens.
